Marci Woodward · record

Pushing ahead with a public ocean park on county land.

“This is county land. It’s the last beach property that we have down here and it’s really special.” She says the county must meet the 43 conditions of a 2010 legal settlement, and that environmental permits are the last holdup to construction. WLRN

  1. 2022

His congressional run ended over a party-registration rule.

In April 2022, Florida Politics reported that Calabrese had filed to run as a Democrat in Florida’s 22nd Congressional District, but had been registered as a Democrat in Florida only since March 14 of that year; before that he was registered as a Republican. Florida law requires candidates to be members of their party for 365 days before qualifying begins, and the candidate oath includes that attestation. Calabrese said state elections staff had told him his Democratic registration in California met the requirement. Florida Politics, Apr. 2022 (archived)

In June 2022, Florida Politics reported that he had already signed an oath attesting to 365 days of party membership, and that he had filed a termination report with the Federal Election Commission, ending his campaign. Florida Politics, Jun. 2022 (archived)

WLRN reported $13,000 from the family, his largest source of money outside his own loans. WLRN The official reports now show $38,000 from the family and its company.
